History of the Chamber of Commerce
There are no records available as to when the Chamber of Commerce was formed but as far as the men could remember that were here at the time, the club was organized in 1912 and was known as the Commercial Club. A constitution for the Colfax Chamber of Commerce was drawn up and signed on March 31, 1926 by Irwin H. Jones, President and E.H. Rosenkranz, Secretary. The articles of incorporation were filed and approved on October 9, 1946, and signed by the following: H.B. Faires, R.J. Gretencort, W.R. Goodrich, J.S. Cooper, C.A. Edgren and Victor S. Casebolt. Our Chamber of Commerce has continued to evolve over the years. It now consists of volunteers from the community who are working together to promote a wholesome community. Our mission statement: "To create a unified Colfax as the center of Whitman County, providing services, products, health care, recreation, education & spiritual opportunities for the agricultural & business-based populous, creating an environment for the nurturing and development of the family." The Chamber promotes Colfax, Colfax businesses and brings business and community together. We strive to help individuals and others in varied ways.
